Accessibility
Last updated: April 2026
Alabama Fishing Atlas is committed to making this site usable for everyone, including people who use assistive technologies. We target WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance.
What we do
- Semantic HTML throughout — proper use of headings, landmarks, and lists
- Skip-to-content link at top of every page
- Descriptive alt text on every image
- Color contrast at or above 4.5:1 for body text
- Keyboard-navigable interactive elements
- ARIA labels on icon buttons and controls
- Respects prefers-reduced-motion
Known limitations
The interactive Mapbox map on lake pages has limited screen reader support — this is a known limitation of the Mapbox GL library. Key information from the map (hotspot names, coordinates, techniques) is also available in the text content below the map on each lake page.
